Elie Saab 2010 Haute Couture serves up a regal concoction that is not unlike its previous couture collection. The show saw his signature petal-appliqués and elaborate crystal embellishments cascading along the staple Oscar silhouettes. The pieces certainly breathe sheer opulence that would serve well on the red carpet. For this spring, his colour story comprises mostly pastel shades with a strong sense of doe-eyed romanticism. Whilst the collection as a whole may not be very forward-looking, kudos to Elie Saab for maintaining some youth despite the considerable risk of spiraling into dated va va voom.
